AMHERST, NY — Halloween is Friday, and officials in Amherst and Clarence have announced their trick-or-treating hours.

In the Town of Amherst, trick-or-treating will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Households that wish to participate are being asked to turn on their porch or outdoor lights during those hours. Homes that prefer not to take part are encouraged to keep their exterior lights off.

"Trick-or-Treaters should only visit homes that have their porch/outdoor lights on," Town of Amherst officials said in a statement.

In the Town of Clarence, trick-or-treating will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., this Thursday, Oct. 31.

Both towns stressed that they want to ensure a safe and enjoyable Halloween experience for residents and families.
