The shocking string of youth crime in Kununurra has taken its toll on locals, with victims describing their town as an “absolute war zone”.
The Kimberely town has been under siege this week, allegedly at the hands of children aged as young as just 10-years-old - with a string of repeated car jackings and police chases dominating headlines.
When eight kids saw it fit to allegedly steal a car and chase police around the rural town it was clear they didn’t have any regard to how it would affect their victims.
Kununurra local Mike was the unfortunate battler who fell prey to the kids’ alleged joy ride, having his Toyota LandCruiser stolen on Tuesday night.
“(It was) pretty shocking, waking up to what looks like an absolute war zone,” he told 7News.
