Height restrictions on Adelaide CBD building proposals will be relaxed as part of an agreement between the state government and the city's airport authority, intended to encourage high-rise growth.
The limits are set in accordance with requirements relating to Adelaide Airport's flight paths, but the government said it could safely raise the height at which developers had to seek exemptions to those restrictions.
It said proposed changes to the city's building code would allow for "pre-approval for increased heights of 10 to 15 floors across many areas of the CBD".
"For example, a development within the proposed area on West Terrace that is currently requiring approval at 3 storeys would now be pre-approved at 20 storeys,"
the government said.
