On the day Fresno State celebrated former head coach Jeff Tedford, Lucky Sutton rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown, and San Diego State’s defense dominated Saturday in a 23-0 shutout of the Bulldogs.
The defeat was Fresno State’s first-ever shutout loss at Valley Children’s Stadium.
Tale of the tape: The Aztecs (6-1, 3-0 Mountain West) struggled to find success through the air, gaining just 124 passing yards, but Sutton led a balanced ground attack with 208 combined rushing yards. His lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run late in the first quarter. • San Diego State’s big plays were limited to Sutton’s 46-yard rush and Byron Cardwell’s 54-yard reception. Meanwhile, Fresno State’s offense failed to execute a single play of at least 15 yards throughout the game. • Kicker Gabriel Plasce
