MURRAY – Calloway County’s annual property tax bills have been mailed, but if you haven’t received yours yet, you are not alone, Sheriff Nicky Knight said.

The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page last week that it had received a number of returned tax bills over the last several days that the office had recently mailed. The post said this is primarily due to people purchasing property during the current tax year, apparently causing the name on the property to not match the mailing address. Knight said the U.S. Postal Service might refuse to deliver the tax bills when this is the case, and that could result in delays that would affect taxpayers’ eligibility for an early payment discount. If the problem goes unresolved for too long, it could also result in late pay
