A childcare operator has shut down one of its centres, days after two workers allegedly assaulted a toddler as scrutiny mounts over the scandal-plagued sector.

Little Zak's Academy at Doonside in western Sydney has closed its doors temporarily citing "significant challenges".

"After extensive internal review and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to voluntarily suspend our service approval," the provider said on Monday in a letter to parents.

It said the final day of operation will be November 7, as it addressed an "established culture within the service" that does not align with its "values, expectations and level of care".
