HOLT, Mich. (WILX) - Three families have worked together at Holt High School as the football chain gang for decades, and they have decided to retire.
“It’s been in the family for 40-plus years. It’s Friday night football, it’s high school football, and you can’t find a better location to be a part of high school football and be right on the sidelines,” said Mike Wriggelsworth.
The Wriggelsworth, Baisel, and Zurek families all have been working on the sidelines at Holt High School for decades. It all started with Gene Wriggelsworth subbing in for a friend of his.
“A friend of mine by the name of Bob Lane was on the chain gang years ago, and he was sick. He asked me if I’d do it, and it just progressed from there,” said Gene Wriggelsworth.
