Five masked men stormed a residence in Odisha’s Sundargarh district and looted gold and cash worth over ₹1 crore in a daring late-night robbery.

The victims, a widow and her daughter, were tied up and held hostage for nearly three hours.

The incident occurred at Rashmi Electric Shop near Hatpada under Bonai police limits. Around midnight, the armed robbers assaulted an employee before breaking into the house. When the woman opened the door, they gagged her and bound both her and her daughter’s hands and feet.

The robbers looted gold ornaments and ₹25 lakh in cash before fleeing. No one in the neighborhood noticed the crime during the three-hour ordeal. The victims remained trapped inside until help arrived.

Bonai Police launched an investigation immediately after receiving the report.
