PORTAGE — The Sturgis girls and Three Rivers boys each qualified for the MHSAA state cross country finals as teams on Saturday. The Wildcat boys were second and the Trojans finished third overall as a team at Portage West Middle School, where the regional run was held.
Otsego won the regional in both runs. The Bulldogs posted 94 points in the boys, finishing ahead of Three Rivers' 110. Gull Lake also qualified as a team. The Otsego girls has 29 points, finishing ahead of St. Joseph (101) and Sturgis (118).
Tessa Hatt led Sturgis in a seventh-place finishing time of 19:21. Lulu Park was 13th at the event, posting a time of 19:40. Sydney Bir (33rd, 21:19), Eleanor Park (34th, 21:20), Berkley Holtz (37th, 21:35), Kenzie Eicher (40th, 21:38) and Carolina Garcia (53rd, 22:09) all ran for the
