Texas Tech loses QB Will Hammond for rest of 2025 season to knee injury

Texas Tech quarterback Will Hammond received terrible news after a solid start. The redshirt freshman tore the ACL in his right knee and will miss the rest of the season, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel .

Hammond exited during the second quarter of Texas Tech's 42-0 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday. He remained out due to the injury. The Red Raiders' backup signal-caller was making his second start in place of Behren Morton, who has been nursing a leg injury.

Beyond Hammond and Morton, third-string quarterback Mitch Griffis will likely get the start at Kansas State on Saturday. He replaced Hammond to finish the game, throwing for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
