HAMDEN, Connecticut — It's the middle of wildfire season in Connecticut. When one popped up in Patricia Delvecchio's backyard in Hamden , she couldn't believe it.

Her husband, Ronald, had gone into the backyard for a smoke. Then he saw the flames, up in the woods on the hill behind their house on Braeside Drive.

"Patty, there's a fire in the woods!"

"What, you can't be serious?"

"Yes, call 911!"

Patricia indeed then called 911. Then the real frightening sight came running out of the woods: Two 13-year-old boys, badly burned.

“It was really frightening, really frightening," Patricia said. “One boy came out, and then the next boy came out, and they were both screaming. And I wasn’t sure if they were afraid at first or if they were hurt. And then I saw that the clothes were burned
