Hurricane Melissa drastically intensified during the weekend and is now forecast to soon become a Category 5 storm. As a consequence, the government of Canada has decided to update several of its advisories for Caribbean countries that are about to be hit by this hurricane.
On October 26, the Canadian government published a post on X claiming that five countries, some highly popular among cruisers, were likely to be affected by Hurricane Melissa. A few hours later, extra advisories were released. Jamaica was added to the ‘Avoid non-essential travel’ list, and some regional ‘Avoid non-essential travel’ warnings were also issued.
