Supreme Court will not initiate contempt proceedings against the lawyer who threw a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai. On Monday (27 October), the court said that since the CJI himself had refused to take action against the accused lawyer, Rakesh Kishore, the matter would not be pursued further. However, the court stated that it would consider framing guidelines to prevent such incidents in the future.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta has been asked to collect details of similar incidents that have occurred in courts across the country.
