The University Grants Commission (UGC) has flagged 22 institutions operating without proper recognition, declaring them fake and unauthorised to confer degrees under the UGC Act, 1956. Any qualifications obtained from these entities are academically and professionally invalid, the commission clarified.

Delhi Leads in Fake University Listings

The recent case involves the Institute of Management and Engineering in Kotla Mubarakpur, Delhi. The UGC stated, “This institute is neither established under any Central or State Act nor recognised under Sections 2(f) or 3 of the UGC Act.” Its engineering degrees, therefore, hold no validity for academic or professional purposes.
