WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. (WJBF) - On Saturday, October 25th, around 7:11 PM, Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputies and Wrightsville Police Officers were alerted to a possible prison contraband drop in progress near GA Hwy 57 East, outside the Wrightsville city limits.
Deputies, officers, and a Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 team immediately entered the wooded area and tracked the suspects path where drones were being used to deliver contraband.
Upon approach, the suspect fled the scene on foot, abandoning a large aerial drone, multiple drone batteries, a machete used to clear a landing zone, illegal narcotics and other items deemed contraband by the Georgia Department of Corrections.
Recovered evidence included approximately: • 1.25 lbs (566g) Marijuana • 2 lbs (970g) Methamphetamine
