Actor-politician Thalapathy Vijay on Monday met the families of those who lost their lives in the Karur stampede and assured them of his full support.

“I can never compensate for your loss, but I will take care of your families," Vijay told the grieving relatives, promising to bear all medical and educational expenses of the victims’ families. He also pledged to arrange employment opportunities for those affected by the tragedy.

Even as Vijay extended his support, DMK leader Amutharasan sparked controversy by sharing an image showing Vijay driving a hearse. In his tweet, the leader mocked that since TVK is seeking an election symbol, the “Amarar Oorthi" (hearse) would be the right choice.
