The City of Yuma has adhered to the 2018 International Fire Code since adopting the amended document on Dec. 19, 2018.
However, with council’s recent adoption of the 2024 International Building Code, International Residential Code and International Property Maintenance Code, city staff found it necessary to update and amend the fire code to reestablish sound criteria for existing buildings and structures.
The city’s Building Advisory Board reviewed the 2024 IFC and recommended various amendments to ensure the code is easy to follow for local developers while maintaining adequate safety standards.
