Daniel John Durkin, born in Youngstown, Ohio, has long been recognized as one of college football’s sharpest defensive minds. The former Bowling Green linebacker-turned-coach, currently in charge of Auburn’s defense, has established a reputation for leadership and drive. Durkin’s plans are renowned for their aggressiveness and accuracy since he has collaborated with big names like Jim Harbaugh and Urban Meyer.

“DJ has been a successful defensive coordinator at multiple stops in the Southeastern Conference,” said Hugh Freeze. “I’ve always been impressed with his schemes and game plans… We are excited to have DJ join our staff here at Auburn.” Durkin’s career has seen its share of controversies, too.
