A man was shot death while sitting inside a pickup truck in the driveway of a Wylam home.

Birmingham police on Sunday identified the victim as Vincento Davis. He was 61.

The city’s gunfire detection system, Shot Spotter, registered gunfire at 7:09 p.m. Saturday at the house in the 900 block of Erie Street.

West Precinct officers arrived to find Davis unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound. Police radio communications stated he was shot in the head, but police have not confirmed that report.

Davis was pronounced dead on the scene.

Grieving family members gathered outside of the home, including the victim’s daughter. They said the home belonged to Davis’s girlfriend.

Additional details have not yet been released.

No arrests have been made.
