Bhubaneswar: Though cyclone Montha is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by the morning of Tuesday and make a landfall near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, it may affect several parts of Odisha.
Sharing details about the possible impact of the cyclone on Odisha, Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said the system centred at around 750 km from Gopalpur over west-central Bay of Bengal (BoB) by Monday afternoon. ADVERTISEMENT
While the wind speed is around 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph, it is gradually moving north-north-westwards and may intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Tuesday morning.
He said the wind speed of the severe cyclonic storm will be around 90-100 kmph gusting to 110 kmph. it is likely to cross Andhra Pradesh coast
