Babar Azam is all set to play his first T20I series for Pakistan after more than 10 months this week. The right-handed batter from Lahore was included in Pakistan’s T20I squad on October 23 for the three-match series against South Africa starting Tuesday (October 28) at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. In the home series, Babar will have a chance to break the world record of scoring the most runs in T20Is.
As of now, Babar has 4223 runs to his credit in 128 T20Is, and if he manages to score at least nine runs in the upcoming three matches, then he will go past Rohit Sharma’s tally of 4321 runs. Rohit, who led India to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title win last year in the West Indies, played 159 T20I matches for India from September 2007 to June 2024.
