A Massachusetts teenager was rescued from the Old Bridle Path in Franconia, New Hampshire, on Saturday night after slipping and injuring his leg on a wet section of the trail.
Rescuers with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department were made aware of the injured hiker from Sudbury at 10:20 p.m. His leg injury prevented him from continuing without help, officials said.
Conservation officers and volunteers from the Pemi Valley Search and Rescue Team responded to the trailhead.
The first rescuers embarked on the trail by 11 p.m. and reached the injured hiker by 11:45 p.m., about 1.7 miles from the trailhead, officials said.
Shortly after midnight, the rescue party started down the trail towards the trailhead with more than 20 rescuers involved.
