Blue Jays fans spent the first two games of the World Series reminding Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani that they’re doing just fine without him. Ohtani, though, is taking it all in stride. And apparently, so is his wife.
Two years after spurning Toronto for Los Angeles in free agency, Ohtani was met with chants of “We don’t need him” from the Rogers Centre crowd during his final at-bat of Game 1. He heard it again in Game 2. But when asked about the hostile reception, Ohtani took the opportunity to compliment the Toronto faithful on its trash talk.
“It was a really great chant, and my wife really appreciated it,” Ohtani joked through team interpreter Will Ireton during the workout day news conference at Dodger Stadium on Sunday.
