The Yellowstone universe's future is now undecided as series creator Taylor Sheridan eyes a major studio exit after closing a new TV deal. Sheridan signed a deal with NBCUniversal for an eight-year movie deal beginning in March 2026 and a five-year TV deal that begins in January 2029. His movie and TV deals with Paramount expire at the end of 2028.

If he does exit the company, it would mean detaching himself from the many successful TV shows he's made since launching Yellowstone in 2018. Some of these are upcoming spinoffs of the Western drama. New installments include the upcoming The Dutton Ranch , centered around Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, Y: Marshals, focused on Kayce Dutton, and The Madison , starring Michelle Pfeiffer.
