The West Bengal Government on Monday announced the transfer of over 500 bureaucrats amid the rollout of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state.

In one of the largest reshuffles in a single day, 67 IAS and 460 West Bengal Civil Services (Executive) officers were transferred, according to a slew of notifications issued by the Personnel and Administrative Reforms (P&AR) Department.

The transfer notifications were dated October 24, even as they were uploaded on the department’s website in batches before and after the announcement of SIR by the Election Commission.
