Retailers across the country are adjusting to the U.S. Treasury's decision to phase out penny production.
Some stores have started asking customers to use exact change as they continue to assess the impacts of the end of penny production. Advertisement
Kroger stores have started to put out signs at self checkout stations, asking customers to consider using exact change when paying with cash, coins.
"We continue to assess the impact of the U.S. Treasury’s decision to end penny production. If using cash for payment, we kindly ask customers to consider providing exact change. Kroger will continue to accept pennies for payment," a Kroger spokesperson said.
