Want to see President Donald Trump serve a third term in the White House?
Don’t count on it.
Trump on Monday threw cold water on an off-the-wall scheme that would allow him to hold onto power for another four years, the New York Post reported.
Trump told reporters on Air Force One en route to Tokyo that he would not run as Vice President JD Vance’s vice-presidential running mate in 2028.
That would allow Vance to step aside and allow Trump to be president again were Vance to be elected.
The scheme would circumvent the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which says that no person can be elected more than twice to the presidency.
“I would love to do it. I have my best numbers ever, it’s very terrible, I have my best numbers,” Trump said on his way to meetings with Emperor Naruhit
