CAPITOL REEF NAT'L PARK, Utah (ABC4) — The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Freeze Warning in southern Utah early Monday morning.
The warning, issued at 3 a.m. Monday morning, Oct. 27, affects Capitol Reef National Park and the surrounding areas. It is in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28.
"Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees are possible for elevations below 6750 feet," the NWS warning states. "Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing."
Residents in the area are asked to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold, as well as to drain in-ground sprinkler systems and cover above-ground pipes.
A Winter Weather Advisory continues to be in effect until noon Monday, Oct. 26. The
