The Newnan Cougars dominated regional opponent Banneker Trojans in a 38-8 victory Friday night at Drake Stadium.

This victory marks the Cougars’ third win in a row as they move to 7-2 on the season.

The Cougars marched down the field on the opening drive, which was capped off with a 30-yard rushing touchdown by junior running back Chris Jackson.

Banneker responded with a 14-play drive that ended with a 2-yard rushing touchdown. The Trojans elected to go for two points and were successful, giving them an 8-7 lead late in the first quarter.

Newnan quickly took the lead back when senior running back Shawn Grier crossed the goal line on a 1-yard run.

The Trojans turned the ball over twice in the first half: a fumble recovery by junior T.J. Gates and an interception by senior Jamarion Brew
