It’s not unusual to have a favourite pair of shoes that we reach for instinctively each day. Willow, a young girl, is no different. Cycling, dancing, puddle jumping — no matter what the activity, her gumboots are her first choice each morning. She moves confidently through her world, splashing in the sea, crunching through the dry grass, and dancing and prancing at parties with her friends. Her bright-pink gumboots (with lime-green polkadots) serve her well until, on one wet day, a hole in the sole results in the shoes being stashed under the bed, no longer fit for the demands of a busy outdoor life.
