In light of the staff shortage, the Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan and Peyjal Nigam have jointly submitted a proposal to the State administration to authorise women’s self-help groups to distribute water bills to villages across the State. This information was shared by UJS secretary (Appraisal) Maneesh Semwal.
Semwal informed that there are approximately 14,000 villages established across the State, while only 3,000 employees are currently working in the department. It has been acknowledged for some time that due to this staff shortage, it has become impossible for employees to effectively distribute water bills in the villages.
