ST. PAUL, Minn. — Gov. Tim Walz announced $4 million in new funding for Minnesota food shelves during a visit Monday to The Open Door Pantry in Eagan.
This funding aims to support the 440,000 Minnesotans set to lose Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) benefits starting November 1.
“Food shelves provide a refuge for hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans,” said Governor Walz. “But if Washington won’t lead, Minnesota will. This funding will serve as a lifeline to help Minnesotans weather the storm.”
