Srinagar, Oct 27: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday informed the Assembly that over Rs 790 crore has been spent so far on various works under the Srinagar Smart City Project since its inception.

The statement came in response to a starred question raised by National Conference General Secretary and Khanyar MLA, Ali Mohammad Sagar.

Responding to the question, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also holds the portfolio of Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), said that a total of Rs 792.92 crore has been spent on the execution of various works under the project since 2018.

According to the figures presented by the CM, expenditure on the project has witnessed a steady increase over the years. In 2018-19, the government spent Rs 8.86 crore, followed by Rs 8
