RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Fall isn’t just about crisp air and colorful leaves — it’s also the most dangerous time of year to be on the road.
According to Carfax , falls account for the highest percentage of car accidents in most states, including Virginia.
Carfax spokesperson Em Nguyen said there are several reasons for that.
“Weather transitions, daylight saving, deer, and busier roadways. All of these factors combine to make fall one of the most dangerous times to drive,” Nguyen said.
As temperatures drop, roads can quickly become slick from rain, frost or falling leaves.
“Those rapid weather changes can catch people off guard, especially during early mornings or evening commutes,” Nguyen said.
