TYLER, Texas — Rep. Nathaniel Moran (R-Tyler) has formally requested for his salary to be withheld while the government shutdown continues.

Moran made the announcement on a Facebook post Monday, saying "I have been informed that, despite the lapse in appropriations and the ongoing government shutdown, Members of Congress will continue to receive their salary."

"Please withhold my net pay until an appropriations agreement has taken effect," Moran said.

Amid the ongoing shutdown, the U.S Department of Agriculture posted a notice saying federal food aid will not be dispersed on Nov. 1 through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.
