LOS ANGELES - A sheriff's deputy was shot in Rancho Cucamonga on Monday, authorities confirmed.

The deputy was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

Just before 1:30 p.m., authorities initiated a pursuit with a motorcyclist who is nelieved to be the suspect in the shooting.

The extent of the deputy's injuries are not clear.
