BRANSON, Mo. (KY3) -A jury awarded $30 million to a developer Friday in a lawsuit against the city of Branson over unfulfilled water service promises.
Court records show that Cushman Properties LLC won the judgment after claiming the city failed to provide water service to its property despite promises made during annexation negotiations in 2022.
The developer sued the city in August 2022, alleging Branson promised to provide water to the property if Cushman allowed the city to annex the land. According to the lawsuit, the annexation occurred, but the city never connected water service.
The attorney for the Cushman family said the verdict concludes a dispute over the city’s failure to provide adequate water service to the 292-acre property at the corner of Highway 76 and Highway 376.
