KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A familiar face will be filling in at Arrowhead Stadium once again.
The Washington Commanders have signed veteran kicker Matthew Wright to their practice squad and elevated him for Monday night’s matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Wright’s activation to the Commanders’ roster comes in a fill-in role for injured kicker Matt Gay, who was ruled out for the ‘Monday Night Football’ matchup due to a back injury. As a result, Wright has been thrust into a familiar position, kicking in a presumably temporary role at Arrowhead Stadium.
Wright, a journeyman kicker who has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans, now joins the Commanders for a game.
