GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Former TV20 meteorologist Mel Turner is being remembered as a local legend and a man whose kindness left a lasting mark on everyone he met.
According to everyone who knew him, he was the kind of meteorologist who could make you smile, even when the forecast didn’t. Turner’s legacy continues to shine, even decades after he left the air.
For many in north central Florida, Mel Turner was more than just the weatherman - he was part of their daily lives. He joined TV20 back in 1973, bringing both accuracy and personality to his forecasts alongside his beanbag companion, Fred Frog.
