Guelph police are reminding the public about the rules with e-scooters after a youth was injured in a scooter crash.

Police said Friday, just before 1 p.m., emergency services were called to the west end where they found a 13-year-old boy suffering from facial injuries after he took his older brother’s scooter and hit a neighbour’s car.

The boy struck his face on the ground after losing control of the scooter, police said, and caused minor damage to the car.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Under the Guelph’s e-scooter bylaw, riders must be 16 or older and must wear a helmet if they are under 18.
