AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Georgia Democrats gathered in Augusta to discuss rising power bills and encourage voters to support Democratic candidates in Public Service Commission races.

State and local Democratic leaders said they are hearing complaints about high power bills more frequently and want voters to know they can influence utility rates through the November election.

“When it comes to our rising power bills here in Richmond County, we are not powerless because we can choose who controls and who regulates our power bills,” said Jordan Johnson, District 1 commissioner.

The Public Service Commission is currently entirely Republican. Democrats are pushing for two open seats to be filled by Democratic candidates who they say will work to change the current status quo.
