COLUMBIA, S.C. — The government shutdown may be affecting SNAP benefit recipients , but state agency leaders say that won't be the case for another program, TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families).
SNAP, the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, is set to run out of federal funding by the end of October due to the shutdown. Federal and state officials have said that means there will be no benefits distributed for the month of November. Food banks are already preparing for an influx of people coming to them for help, and the OneSC fund is being activated to collect donations to help fund food banks across the state.
