The ongoing government shutdown has led to the suspension of November SNAP benefits for nearly two million Pennsylvanians, leaving many without crucial food assistance.
The shutdown, now approaching its fourth week, has halted the distribution of federally funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in Pennsylvania. As a result, the state has not received the necessary funds to issue November benefits, affecting a significant portion of its population.
"As soon as the federal government reopens, we are going to work with the federal government to distribute those benefits as quickly as possible," said Brandon Cwalina, Press Secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
