TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Community leaders hosted an official housewarming in Griffin Heights on Monday for those moving into the newest housing development.

The project was a part of a joint effort between the city and county to expand affordable housing.

The homes were made possible through a partnership with the City of Tallahassee, Leon County and Tallahassee Lenders Consortium.

Karen Miller, the CEO of the Tallahassee Lenders Consortium, said many people don’t believe homeownership is possible, but through their programs, she says they can guide people in the right direction and help them set up a future for themselves.

She says they don’t just help people own homes, they teach financial literacy and help them better understand their credit.
