New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo underwent surgery on Sunday night after suffering a dislocated ankle during the Giants’ 38-20 loss at Philadelphia on Sunday.
Skattebo, 23, was carted off the field after suffering the injury during the second quarter. He was attempting to catch a pass over the middle when he was brought down with his right leg stuck in the field and bent underneath him, causing his ankle to turn sideways.
Skattebo’s teammates reacted with immediate concern and called for team trainers, who placed an air cast on his leg before carting him off the field. He was transported to a local hospital in Philadelphia, where he was set to undergo surgery Sunday night, the team announced .
