FORT MILL, S.C. (WBTV) - The government has now been shut down for 27 days. Now, there is growing concern about funding for many federal programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster is set to announce more on the One SC Fund, which he says will coordinate assistance for food banks and feeding partners to help feed families impacted by the shutdown.
South Carolina’s Department of Social Services announced that, due to the ongoing government shutdown, SNAP benefits may not be paid in November. More than 260,000 South Carolinians rely on the benefits, including more than 20,000 in York, Lancaster, Chester, and Chesterfield Counties .
