TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) -- A Taylorville man was sentenced to six years behind bars after he crashed into a parked car and tried to flee from police on Christmas Day.

WCIA previously reported that on Dec. 25, 2024, Taylorville Police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver fled the scene of the stop. He lost control of his vehicle, crashing into both a street sign and a parked car.

Police said he then ran away on foot, leaving behind one of his shoes. Officers found the driver -- who they said was only wearing one shoe -- and arrested him. They identified him as 35-year-old Aaron Steele.
