MOOSOMIN — A longtime family physician in Moosomin has been recognized for his decades of dedication to rural health care.

Dr. Ettiene Crouse has been named the Saskatchewan Medical Association’s 2025 Physician of the Year.

Crouse says the recognition reflects the strong teamwork within Moosomin’s medical community.

“It is a huge honour, but at the same time I feel that my colleagues are as deserving of this as I am,” he said. “Our success in Moosomin stems from teamwork that includes our clinic and hospital staff.”

Originally from South Africa, Crouse moved to Moosomin in 1994 after working in the U.K.

He provides care across several areas, including family medicine, emergency services, long-term and palliative care, obstetrics and occupational health at the local potash mine.
