NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — A man is facing additional charges after an 11-year-old girl's remains were found behind an abandoned property in New Britain.

According to state Judicial Branch records Monday, Jonatan Nanita, the boyfriend of the girl's mother, is now facing charges of tampering with physical evidence and violation of legal requirements regarding the disposition of a body, following the death of 11-year-old Jacqueline "Mimi" Torres-Garcia.

Nanita was arrested in addition to Karla Garcia, Jacqueline's mother, and Jackelyn Garcia, Jacqueline's aunt, on Oct. 13.

Karla and Nanita are facing the most serious charges, including murder with special circumstances and conspiracy to commit murder, among others. All three were charged with cruelty to persons under 19 years of age.
