LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It’s easy to take a warm bed for granted, but some children don’t have that luxury. A Kentucky nonprofit is giving children the gift of rest. A Place To Sleep makes sure that all children have a place to sleep.

A Place To Sleep started in 2009 after Lynn Whitaker’s granddaughter saw “The Blind Side.”

Whitaker said, “She came home with a lot of questions, especially about the scene where Michael Oher gets his first bed. He’s in high school. He’s just now getting a bed. She could not believe that there are children that don’t have a bed to sleep in.”

Whitaker said beds can often be overlooked and feel like a luxury.

“There’s a lot of expenses to things we take for granted. That’s going to be one thing that’s going to be maybe put on the back burner. So if we can help
